Our Team
Passion. Insight. Dedication.
Meet the Year of Arts family! We are lucky to have a team driven by passion, with a varied background in arts & education. Find a little bit about everyone that makes YofA the ground-breaking programme that it is below. Or better yet, come to one of our activities to meet us in person. We love to connect!

Founder & Director
San Casciani
With a background in education and anthropology, I started a (single) Year of Arts in May 2023 as an attempt to bring more real artistic practice into our own home. What started as a passion project grew rapidly into a varied and dynamic programme for the whole community. With new locations throughout Leinster, I cannot wait to see how many more lives we're going to be able to enrich using art as a portal to wellbeing, success, personal growth, confidence and happiness.

Creative Director
Norma Galvin
I have a background in education and financial advising. I love creative expression and am passionate about bringing the power of art to grow confidence, creativity and happiness! I joined YofA early 2024 as it's creative director and haven't looked back. Seeing the joy that this programme brings to people young and old is unreal, and food for the soul!

Artist-in-Residence
Christine de Paor
I work as a visual artist, selling and exhibiting my work in various locations throughout Dublin and Wicklow. I work with mixed media including oil pastels, oil paints, acrylic, graphite, pigments, gesso and wax. I predominantly use mark making as a visual language expressing themes based around the landscape and the energy found in and beneath the surface of the land. For YofA I deliver workshops and offer consultations.

Programme Facilitator
Barbora Svecova
I am dedicated to empowering individuals of all ages to discover their artistic potential. I have a background in interdisciplinary and visual arts. Through engaging workshops I offer a supportive space for participants to explore creativity, develop skills, and express themselves. Inspired by nature and sustainable practices, I emphasise process over product, encourage experimentation, and promote a sense of community.

Programme Facilitator
Claudia Koehler
I have a background in education, permaculture and organic horticulture and am a self taught artist that works with acrylics and oil on canvas. I facilitate the YofA programme at a self directed youth club in Co. Longford, and will deliver it at a democratic school when it opens.
I love delivering the YofA programme as it has a wonderful approach to art and the process of creating, putting the individual expression and experience central.

Programme Facilitator
Tamsyn Speight
I have a background in art, languages, dance and instinctive movement and am a graduate of NCAD. While living in Brooklyn, NY for 8 years, I was immersed in the self-directed education movement, which nurtures the natural drives of playfulness, curiosity and sociability.
I love supporting children and their families explore and express their creativity through all sorts of arty experimentation!
